Jay Nixon (Nixon for Governor)
Blackrock Associates was part of Jay Nixon's team as he successfully ran for Missouri's Governorship in 2008. One of the nation's most hotly contested gubernatorial races, his campaign focused on expanding health care, education, and jobs in the state of Missouri.
Blackrock Associates worked closely with Jay Nixon's communications team to reinforce the campaign's message online -- through e-mail, web video, and outreach to blogs and social networks. The firm tripled the size of Nixon's online support base and assisted with online fundraising throughout the campaign.
Blackrock worked with Nixon for Governor to launch a highly interactive web site, with features such as a "Share Your Health Care Story" forum to identify new citizen spokespersons. Blackrock also worked with the campaign to identify new supporters through an array of online advocacy campaigns targeting the current governor and highlighting Nixon's position on issues ranging from health care to college affordability.
Blackrock also worked with the Missouri Democratic Party to develop the "Matt Blunt: Document Destroyer" viral online video game. The game earned considerable attention from the traditional media to reinforce the campaign’s message, attracted thousands of players, and identified hundreds of new supporters.
