Senator Dick Durbin

Blackrock was hired to assist in Senator Durbin's 2008 re-election race. We helped expand his online support base tenfold, mobilizing it to support his legislative priorities and contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars online to his campaign.  Blackrock also helped to engage his online community as they sent over 50,000 letters to decision-makers on a range of issues from the Iraq War to college affordability.  

The firm also managed Senator Durbin’s ultimately successful online effort at ProtectOurLake.com to prevent British Petroleum from dumping toxic chemicals into Lake Michigan, generating nearly 100,000 online advocacy actions (including petition signatures and letters to BP's CEO). Blackrock also worked with the campaign to create an online petition at PickChicago2016.com to mobilize support around bringing the 2016 Olympic Games to Chicago. Following the 2008 elections, our firm has worked with the campaign to raise over $30,000 for Haitian primary schools and invite over 13,000 supporters to sign an online "Inauguration Card" to President Obama.
