Barbara Boxer for Senate
Blackrock managed the online program for Barbara Boxer's successful 2004 re-election campaign and is reprising that work in her 2010 race, having also developed and executed the online program for her PAC for a Change in the intervening years. In all three phases, Blackrock has managed the entire online operations suite: email communications, messaging development and copy generation, email list growth, online advocacy campaigns, online fundraising, and netroots outreach.
Coming out of the 2004 re-election campaign, Senator Boxer had 40,000 email addresses. After transfering those records to PAC for a Change, Blackrock helped the organization grow this list five-fold in two years through online advocacy campaigns and targeted online advertising.
During the 2006 cycle, PAC for a Change raised money online for more than 20 candidates, relying on weekly fundraising email solicitations over the final 6 months to strategically direct financial support to candidates where extra financial support could make a huge difference. All told, PAC for a Change raised more than $1 million online for these candidates — in particular, $170k for Claire McCaskill, $130k for Jim Webb, $90k for Maria Cantwell, $90k for Harold Ford, Jr., $80k for Bill Nelson, $50k for Amy Klobuchar, and $50k for Jon Tester.
Since 2007, Blackrock has helped the organization refocus its online efforts back to the re-elect committee and is currently working with the campaign to expand its already robust online presence. The most notable expansion is the development of a comprehensive solution for online activists including voter contact, personal fundraising pages, event creation and coordination, and social networking tools. This new community hub uses the latest in API technology to integrate with existing online communities such as Facebook and facilitates activists taking meaningful actions that advance key campaign goals — especially voter contact and fundraising. Such close integration streamlines the workflows for the online, fundraising, and field programs by increasing the online program's viral reach and providing activists important tools for offline action using minimal staff time.
