Senator Tim Johnson
Tim Johnson was first elected to the United States Senate in 1996, and was re-elected in 2002 by only 524 votes. Blackrock was brought on to assist in his 2008 re-election campaign, and helped him expand his razor-thin 2002 victory to a decisive 62-38% win in 2008. Johnsons was the subject of national attention in December 2006 when he suffered from a life-threatening brain injury, but he has since returned to work in the Senate.
Tim Johnson for South Dakota hired Blackrock to manage the campaign's online presence through e-mail messaging, blog outreach, and online advocacy. The firm harnessed its relationships with 12 Senate and Presidential campaigns to coordinate an online fundraising push that raised nearly $100,000 for Senator Johnson's campaign in 48 hours. Blackrock also deployed cutting edge streaming video technology to webcast Johnson's "Welcome Back" celebration in September 2007, drawing attention from mainstream media and attracting online viewers from across America.
