Wesley Clark for President
Blackrock's two principals, Brent Blackaby and Larry Huynh, co-directed
the online fundraising and new supporter acquisition programs for the
Clark for President campaign. Over a five-month period, they were
responsible for raising more than $7 million in contributions from more
than 50,000 individual donors over the internet (representing
approximately 40% of the campaign's overall fundraising), including an
aggressive email marketing and supporter communication program to
solicit contributions on a weekly basis.
They also led initiatives to grow the size of the Clark campaign's online supporter database to more than 250,000 names, including online advertising and email campaigns as well as cross-functional efforts to collect new registrations at more traditional touch points, including campaign rallies, fundraisers, and even supporter data from Clark endorsers.
Before joining Clark for President, Blackaby and Huynh also helped lead one of the largest efforts to draft Wes Clark into the presidential race: Draft Clark 2004. During the draft movement, they helped establish a grassroots network of more than 30,000 volunteers, led by 300 regional coordinators in all 50 states. The Clark campaign leveraged this nationwide network of support extensively throughout the campaign to build attendance at campaign events, to spread the campaign's message throughout local communities, and to call and write letters to voters in key states in the weeks leading up to the all-important primaries and caucuses.
