Senator Patrick Leahy and Green Mountain PAC
Blackrock has managed Senator Leahy's online program since the 2006 cycle, starting first with his Green Mountain PAC and now working for the Senator's 2010 re-elect committee as well. As the online program was launched soon after the Senator had been re-elected in 2004, the primary focus has been on list-building and fundraising for other candidates. Through Green Mountain PAC, Blackrock helped Senator Leahy manage successful advocacy campaign on issues such as extending free credit monitoring to the victims of the Veteran’s Administration data security breach, and urging President Bush to rescind his signing statements on bills such as the PATRIOT Act reauthorization. We also engaged in reciprocal email messaging arrangements with allied progressive candidates and organizations to grow the organization's supporter base.
With Leahy for Senate, the online program has placed a larger emphasis on Senator Leahy's legislation and committee work. We have managed several joint advocacy campaigns with fellow Democratic legislators, such as the "Fix FISA" campaign with Rep. John Conyers and a joint campaign with Sen. Dick Durbin promoting legislation to fight cybercrime. We are also currently in the midst of a very successful online advocacy effort around Senator Leahy's truth commission proposal -- at http://www.BushTruthCommission.com. All told, our efforts have led to list growth from several thousand at the start to well more than 100,000 today.
