General Wesley Clark's WesPAC
Blackrock's two principals, Brent Blackaby and Larry Huynh, were heavily involved in the Draft Clark movement and later co-directed the online fundraising and new supporter acquisition programs for the Clark for President campaign. Over a five-month period, they were responsible for raising more than $7 million in contributions from more than 50,000 individual donors over the internet (representing approximately 40% of the campaign's overall fundraising), including an aggressive email marketing and supporter communication program to solicit contributions on a weekly basis.
They also led initiatives to grow the size of the Clark campaign's online supporter database to more than 250,000 names, including online advertising and email campaigns as well as cross-functional efforts to collect new registrations at more traditional touch points, including campaign rallies, fundraisers, and even supporter data from Clark endorsers.
Blackrock has also helped Gen. Clark's WesPAC develop online advocacy campaigns on issues including stopping prisoner abuse and getting Ed Schultz on Armed Forces Radio, assisted in the production of a weekly podcast series featuring General Clark (the only podcast to be awarded a Pollie by the American Association of Political Consultants), and helped WesPAC become one of the top ten ActBlue sites in terms of money donated to Democratic campaigns during the 2006 cycle.
In February of 2006, Blackrock helped WesPAC launch StopIranWar.com, a stand-alone site dedicated to pursuing strategies that will help our country avoid another armed conflict in the middle east.
